Butuan City (Rapido) – Four dead and six in critical condition in a vehicular collision last June 29, 2019 at 10:30 in the evening along National Highway, Barangay Baan, Butuan City.

According to the investigation conducted by Butuan City Police Office Traffic Section through PSSGt. Ian Milrey Abao, it was determined that Fr. Ruel Griar of St. Ezekiel Moreno Parish, drove the Mitsubishi Adventure with Plate No. GDL 768 yesterday night along the National Highway.  On board with him were nine companions and they were coming back to Butuan City from Bayugan City. 

The Mitsubishi Adventure allegedly made a short stop at the crossing of Amamaylan to give way to an incoming motorcycle, after which, it started to make a left turn.  While on its way to the left, the Mitsubishi Adventure was suddenly hit from behind by a Starex Van bearing the plate number KFM 923 and driven by a certain Rodel Begaso, an employee of Nilo Funeral Homes at Ochoa Avenue, Butuan City.  On board the Starex Van was a certain Junel Moreno.  The driver of the Starex Van and his companion were found to be both under the influence of liquor at the time of the collision.

The Mitsubishi Adventure turned several times, throwing its passengers outside of the vehicle due to the impact of the collision, then it crashed into a parked Mitsubishi Canter owned by Murami Subic Trading Corporation, Butuan City.

The fatalities of the accident are identified as Tessie Cahapay, a church cook; Apaulgrace Casinillo, teacher at Sacred Heart School; Johnfel Antong, Altar Boy of the church and Leah Perez.

The following are still in critical condition as of Twelve (12) noon of June 30, 2019:
1. Fr. Ruel Griar
2. Ralph Laurence Amper
3. Isabel Mocha Datchile
4. Nelfa Celmar Correos

5. Unidentified person whose identity is still being determined.

The victims on board the Mitsubishi Adventure are confined in a private hospital while those on board the Starex Van, Rodel Begaso and Junel Moreno are in a public hospital. 

The family of the victims are asking for prayers for their fast recovery.
