Caraga police arrested a total of Nineteen (19) suspects for illegally cutting trees in its Eight Anti-Illegal Logging operations conducted in Cantilan, Lanuza, and Tandag City of Surigao del Sur; Gigaquit and Bacuag in Surigao del Norte; Esperanza and Bayugan City in Agusan del Sur; and Cabadbaran City in Agusan del Norte for the period June 17-23, 2019.
In the province of Surigao del Sur, there were Fifteen (15) suspects for illegal logging operations, namely, Babie Dequit, Jordan S Delicona, Jonathan M Suazo, Romel G Juagpao, Jun-Jun R Ulpina, Raymart D Flores, Jomar M Rivera, Eson D Flores, Idoy L Cabadunga, Ariel M Rivera, Jonathan S Plaza, Reneboy B Plaza, Suri P Badiang, Edito L Bitoy, and Noel C Bitoy. Said operations resulted to the confiscation of a total of 2,430 board feet of Lauan lumbers.
While in Surigao del Norte, two operations conducted in Gigaquit and Bacuag caused the arrest of three suspects namely Ricky Flordeliza, Alex O Biog and Reynan Pradas. It also resulted in the confiscation of 2,499.2 board feet of Lauan lumbers, a multicab, and a tricycle.
Further, the two operations conducted in Esperanza and Bayugan City in Agusan del Sur resulted in the confiscation of three motorcycles, Air-Cooled diesel engine, sawmill blade, fan belt, flywheel (bolante), and 145.33 board feet of Narra flitches.
Lastly, the operation conducted in Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte resulted in the arrest of Romeo L Benuhat, Jr, and confiscation of 210 board feet of sawn lumbers.
Police Brigadier General Gilberto DC Cruz, Caraga Police Director, said authorities recovered a total volume of 5284.53 board feet of Lauan lumbers and Narra flitches with total value of P 152,130.40.
